Join the challenge:
Starting October 14 through November 12.
Click the link on the instructions provided by your admin to create an account and join the challenge. Please note: You must use your NYU email address to register for the challenge.
Become a team captain:
NYU faculty and employees will have the opportunity to create a smaller team that has a global affiliation. Team Captains can identify themselves starting September 16 through October 8. To become a captain, complete the google form which includes a template to download and then reload with details about your teammates. Each team must have at least 8 members, otherwise your team will be added to a team of individuals.
Join a team:
This year, teams will only be created by the challenge administrator. If you do not know a captain or a team to join, you will be added to a team of individuals based on your global affiliation (Walking Wonders).
All participants (including captains) can register starting September 16 through October 8. The challenge kicks off October 14!

**MoveSpring can usually connect with the Garmin Forerunner and Fenix devices, however we can only pull from devices that report steps. If your device doesn't report steps, it will not sync with MoveSpring.

How do I connect my device?
Find your device from the selection of options on this page, and follow the directions to get everything set up.
If you have any issues connecting your device please select the blue chat icon in the bottom right-hand corner. From your dashboard in the mobile app, tap the menu bars at the top left corner and then select the green Message support button at the bottom of the utility panel.

Apple (Health App and Watch) and Google Fit users*:
MoveSpring syncs your steps data directly from the Apple Health app or Google Fit app on your phone. To sync your steps to your MoveSpring account you only need to open the MoveSpring app on your phone.
*Please note: Apple and Google Fit users must sync from the MoveSpring app (not the website).
All other devices:
MoveSpring syncs your steps data from your device's cloud server online (not directly from your device or the corresponding app). To sync your steps to MoveSpring you need to first make sure they're available in the cloud.
To do this: open your device app on your phone. For example, open the Fitbit app. Pull down the screen to refresh (touch the top of the screen and drag your finger down) and this will push your data into the Fitbit cloud. Next, open the MoveSpring app and your steps will sync.
General Syncing Information:
To sync steps data into your MoveSpring account you will need to open the MoveSpring app on your phone, or go to the MoveSpring website and click the green Sync button at the top right. MoveSpring cannot sync your steps data if you do not open the MoveSpring app or website.
We recommend syncing several times a day to keep your data up to date in your challenges. All MoveSpring challenges have a 72-hour grace period after the challenge ends to give you extra time sync your final steps.
Additional challenge features

The team with the highest daily step average moves to the top of the leaderboard. Work together with your team to earn the top spot. Once the challenge starts, you can click on your team to view a leaderboard of your own team members.
Streak modules encourage healthy habits as users try to meet a step or active minute goal throughout the challenge. Participants should try to meet their daily goal as many days in a row as possible to keep their streak going.
A total steps goal has been set to achieve by the end of the challenge. Aim to complete a target goal of 300,000 steps over the 30 day challenge. MoveSpring calculates a daily step pace to help you stay on track.

Chat with your team by navigating to "chat" within the app. Post images, share how you got your steps, or congratulate other steppers on their hard work. How do I communicate with other members?
You can communicate with your fellow challenge teammates by using the team chat in the app. Click on "Chat" from the bottom navigation bar on mobile, or from the top right corner on web. Select the chat to message your team.
Add friends in MoveSpring for ongoing, daily competition with those you know best! Once friends with someone, you can keep up with their daily stats even when you’re not in a challenge. You can also send friends direct messages in chat and view more of their profile.
