Join the challenge:
Starting October 3 through October 12.
Click the link on the instructions provided by your admin to create an account and join the challenge.
Become a team captain:
New in 2018, NYU faculty and employees will have the opportunity to create a smaller team that has a global affiliation. Team Captains can identify themselves starting September 20 through September 28 by completing this google form. Each team must have at least 5 members, otherwise your team will be added to a team of individuals.
Join a team:
In the web or mobile app, select “Join a Team” to search for a team based on team name. Click the + icon to join desired team.
All participants (including captains) can register starting October 3 through the challenge kick off on October 16.
What devices can connect to MoveSpring?
MoveSpring offers cross device compatibility making it the perfect place for everyone to play. We support most major fitness trackers, including:
- Android Phones - Android 4.1 or above through the Google Fit app.
- Apple Watch
- Fitbit - Zip, One, Flex, Charge, Charge HR, Surge, Alta, Blaze, MobileTracker app

How do I connect my device?
Find your device from the selection of options on this page, and follow the directions to get everything set up.
If you have any issues connecting your device please select the blue chat icon in the bottom right-hand corner. In the app, head to Profile > Need some help? Contact Support.
How does syncing work?

Watch a how-to video for syncing on web: https://youtu.be/DlFkQhbpWUc Your data automatically becomes available to MoveSpring after you sync your device, but we can't pull data directly from every device so you have to sync it!
To sync, open up your device app on your phone (e.g. Fitbit app). Then, open the MoveSpring app. MoveSpring will refresh your data from your recently opened device app (in this case, Fitbit).
Some devices, such as Apple Watch, allow us to pull data directly from the device so you will not need to open up another app before opening MoveSpring.
We recommend syncing several times a day to ensure your steps are counted for each challenge.
There is also a 72-hour grace period that allows participants to sync after a challenge is complete.
Additional challenge features

The team with the highest daily step average moves to the top of the leaderboard. Work together with your team to earn the top spot. Once the challenge starts, you can click on your team to view a leaderboard of your own team members.
Streak modules encourage healthy habits as users try to meet a step or active minute goal throughout the challenge. Participants should try to meet their daily goal as many days in a row as possible to keep their streak going.
A total steps goal has been set to achieve by the end of the challenge. Aim to complete a target goal of 300,000 steps over the 30 day challenge. MoveSpring calculates a daily step pace to help you stay on track.

Be on the lookout for content posted within MoveSpring throughout the challenge. View motivational tips and articles related to various health topics. To manage your content notification preferences, view below section, "Push Notifications".
Chat with your team by navigating to "chat" within the app. Post images, share how you got your steps, or congratulate other steppers on their hard work. Please note: team chat participation must abide by NYU’s social media guidelines. To turn off chat notifications, read below under "Push Notifications".
How do I communicate with other members?
You can communicate with your fellow challenge teammates by using the team chat in the app. Click on "Chat" from the bottom navigation bar on mobile, or from the top right corner on web. Select the chat to message your team.
