Start here: quick checks for every connection
Try these first, whichever service you use:
Update Movespring to the latest version from the App Store or Google Play.
Check your internet connection. Syncing needs Wi-Fi or mobile data.
Open Movespring and pull down to refresh on the [Home] screen.
Give it a few minutes. Some data takes 5 to 15 minutes to appear, and Garmin data can take longer.
Check that the data exists at the source. If a workout isn't in Garmin Connect, Apple Health, or Health Connect, Movespring can't see it either.
Garmin
Movespring receives your Garmin data through your Garmin Connect account, so your device has to sync to Garmin Connect first.
If new activities aren't appearing
Sync your Garmin device with the Garmin Connect app. Open Garmin Connect and confirm the activity shows there. If it doesn't, the issue is between your watch and Garmin Connect, so try restarting your watch and syncing again.
Check the connection in Movespring. Go to [Settings > Connected Apps > Garmin] and confirm it shows as connected.
Reconnect your account. Tap Disconnect, then Connect and sign in to Garmin again. Make sure you approve all data types when asked.
Check permissions on the Garmin side. In your Garmin Connect account settings, open Connected Apps and make sure Movespring is listed and has access.
Allow time for older data. After connecting, historical data may take a while to import.
Common causes
You changed your Garmin password, which can end the connection. Reconnect to fix it.
Your watch hasn't synced to the Garmin Connect app in a while.
Some data types weren't approved when you first connected.
Apple Health (iPhone)
Movespring can only read the categories of data you've allowed in Apple Health.
If data is missing or not updating
Check Health permissions. Open Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Movespring and turn on the categories you want to share, such as Steps, Workouts, Heart Rate, and Sleep.
Check the Health app itself. Open the Health app and confirm the data appears there. If your Apple Watch or another app isn't writing data to Health, Movespring won't receive it.
Turn on Background App Refresh. Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and enable it for Movespring.
Turn off Low Power Mode temporarily, since it can pause background syncing.
Open Movespring and keep it open for a minute so it can catch up.
Reconnect Apple Health. In Movespring, go to [Settings > Connected Apps > Apple Health], disconnect, then reconnect and allow all categories.
Common causes
A category was switched off when you first set up the connection.
Your iPhone is locked. Health data can be unavailable to apps while the phone is locked, so unlock it and open Movespring.
Your Apple Watch hasn't synced with your iPhone yet.
Health Connect (Android)
Health Connect acts as a hub. Your watch or fitness app writes data into it, and Movespring reads from it. Health Connect doesn't collect data on its own.
If data is missing or not updating
Make sure Health Connect is installed and up to date. On Android 14 and later it's built in. On Android 13 and earlier, install it from Google Play.
Check Movespring's permissions. Open Health Connect, tap App permissions, select Movespring, and allow the data types you want to share. The exact path varies by device.
Check that your source app writes to Health Connect. Apps like Garmin Connect, Samsung Health, or your watch's companion app need Health Connect turned on in their own settings. In Health Connect, open Data and access to see which apps are contributing data.
Turn off battery optimization for Movespring. Go to your phone's Settings > Apps > Movespring > Battery and choose Unrestricted (or similar), so syncing isn't stopped in the background.
Reconnect. In Movespring, go to [Settings > Connected Apps > Health Connect], disconnect, then reconnect and approve all permissions.
Restart your phone if nothing changes.
Common causes
Permissions were denied or only partly granted.
Aggressive battery saving on some Android brands is stopping background sync.
The source app isn't sending data to Health Connect.
Seeing duplicate or mismatched data?
If you've connected more than one source, for example Garmin and Apple Health, the same workout or step count may appear twice. Go to [Settings > Data Sources] and choose which source Movespring should use as your primary source for each data type.
