When can users join challenges in MoveSpring?
By default, all MoveSpring challenges will allow late entry. Users can join a challenge until it ends. This means that users can join the challenge all the way up to the last day of the challenge, unless you set a final join date.
What is a final join date?
A final join date will prevent users from joining your challenge after the date you select.* After a challenge is created, you can edit your challenge details from the challenge dashboard to set a final join date.
For example, if your challenge begins on January 1 and you set a final join date of January 7, this means no one will be able to join your challenge after 11:59:59pm (according to your client time zone) on January 7.
*If you include a final join date, you will still be able to manually add users to your challenge from the admin center, even after the final join date has passed.
How do I add a final join date?
Go to your Challenges tab and select your challenge.
Click the button labeled "Edit details"
A pop up will appear allowing you to make edits. Scroll down to "Final join date"
Toggle the Final join date On. A text box will appear allowing you to select a final join date. Click into the box to choose your date. Note: The final join date must fall between the challenge start and end dates.
Once you've selected your date, press Save.
Your Final join date will now show on your challenge details.
Note: If your challenge visibility is set to Public, your challenge will automatically be hidden after the final join date passes.
If you need to Edit or Delete your final join date at any time, simply click back into the "Edit details" section. Select a new date to edit, or toggle the date off to remove the final join date. Click Save to save your changes.
When can I add a final join date?
You can add a final join date at any point after you create a challenge and before the challenge end date. It isn't possible to include a final join date during challenge creation. Please follow the steps above to add a final join date to an existing challenge. Note that the final join date must fall between the challenge start and end dates.
What time does the final join date go into effect?
Final join dates will go into effect at the end of the day on the date you select. For example, if your challenge begins on January 1 and you set a final join date of January 7, no one will be able to join your challenge after 11:59:59pm (according to your client time zone) on January 7.
Can I still add users to a challenge after the join date in the admin center?
If you include a final join date, you will still be able to manually add users to your challenge from the admin center, even after the final join date has passed.
Can I edit or remove a final join date?
Yes, it's possible to edit or remove final join dates as needed. Please remember to communicate any updates regarding your final join date to your challenge participants so they know when they can join your challenge.
If I change my challenge dates before it begins, will my final join date be impacted?
If you update your challenge dates, your final join date will not change. Please be sure to update your final join date accordingly if you make updates to your challenge dates.
Will a final join date prevent users from joining a challenge, even if they're using the challenge join link?
Yes. Users will see this message if they try to join a challenge that's past the final join date, even if they are using a challenge join link:
How do late joiners impact challenge scores?
When a user joins a challenge past the challenge start date, the system automatically scores their activity data into the challenge back through the beginning of the challenge. Note: The user joining will need to have data tracked in their MoveSpring account for all challenge dates in order for their data to be scored into the challenge. Moving forward, the user will need to sync at least 1x every 7 days during the challenge to maintain accurate challenge scores.
