Please note: Chat must be enabled in your client account by your challenge admins for you to access it. Depending on the settings your challenge admin has selected, you may have access to some or all of the listed chat options.
Stay engaged and motivated with MoveSpring's chat feature! With chat, you can send messages and photos to the entire challenge group, your team, or directly to friends. You can also react to messages using chat reactions or reply within a thread to continue a conversation! π

Types of Chat
Challenge & Team Chat
Challenge & team chats allow you to chat in threads with all fellow challenge participants or team members. These threads will appear in your inbox if you've joined a challenge that includes a challenge or team chat and will remain in your inbox for 10 days after your challenge ends. You can mute all challenge and team chat notifications by following the steps in this guide.
Direct Chat with Friends
Direct Chat allows you to chat directly with friends you've added on MoveSpring. Learn how to add friends and more here. Direct Chats will always remain in your inbox.
How to Use Chat
To access chat, you'll need to select the "Chat" icon from the upper right hand corner of the dashboard.
Send Messages & Photos
To send a message or photo, begin by opening an existing chat thread or selecting the blue "New chat" button to open a new Direct Chat thread with a friend.
To send a message, simply type your message in the text box and click the green "Send" button.
Enabling photo permissions
To grant MoveSpring access to your photos on iPhone devices, head to Settings on your phone > MoveSpring > Photos > then choose Selected Photos or All Photos. You can also edit your selected photos from there if needed.
To grant MoveSpring access to your photos on Android devices, please go to your phone's settings > Apps & notifications > MoveSpring > Permissions manager > Camera > tap Allow.
To send a photo on mobile:
Open a chat thread
Select the image icon to upload a photo OR use the camera icon to take a photo
Preview your photo and press the blue "Send photo" to send
To send a photo from your computer:
Open a chat thread
Select the camera icon to upload from your computer
Adjust the crop to be applied to your photo before sending
Select "Upload" to send your photo
Add Chat Reactions, Reply in a Thread, or Report a Message
From your phone, press and hold on the message or photo you want to interact with. Then, follow the steps below to Add a reaction, Reply in a thread, or Report a message as inappropriate:
Add a reaction
Select "Add a reaction"
Tap the reaction you want to add
Your reaction will now appear below the message or photo.
βNote: To remove your reaction, just tap or click on the reaction below the message. You can also tap on a reaction that was added by another user to add the same reaction from your account.
Reply in a thread
Select "Reply in a thread"
Type your message and send
βNote: You can also access existing threads by tapping on the reply icon below a message
Report a message as inappropriate
Select "Report message as inappropriate"
Read over the details that appear and tap "Yes, report" to report the message
βNote: Reporting a message will permanently remove it from the chat. Others will no longer be able to see the message.
View Who Reacted to a Message
Press and hold on a reaction
View the users who have reacted from the overlay that appears as shown here:
3. Swipe down from the top of the overlay to return to the chat thread
Delete Chat Messages or Photos
To delete your post from your phone:
Press and hold on the post you want to delete (Please note: you can only delete your own messages or photos)
Select "Delete this message" from the options that appear
To delete your post from your computer:
Hover your mouse over the post you want to delete
Click "Delete" when the option appears above your post
View Pinned Messages
Account admins can pin messages to a challenge chat as desired. Pinned messages are typically important, as they can contain participation information and challenge updates, so pay attention to any messages that have been pinned!
Pinned messages have a yellow background to help them stand out, and all pinned messages are also accessible by clicking the three dots in the upper right hand corner of the chat screen and then clicking "View Pinned."
Note that individual users are not able to pin messages; only admins have this ability.
